Toilet Design Guide
How to Choose the Right Toilet
Choosing the right toilet
Forget the head of the table or Dad’s most comfortable easy chair; at Weinstein Bath & Kitchen Showroom, we believe the toilet is the most important seat in the house. With so many options available, choosing the correct toilet design can be challenging.
Toilet Shape
Round Bowl
Smaller toilet bowls that are perfect for smaller bathrooms or half baths.
Elongated Bowl
Larger, oblong or egg shaped bowls allow for more comfortable use.
Toilet Installation Type
One Piece Toilet
One single ceramic piece. One piece toilets are often smaller in height than their two piece counterparts, which offers a sleek design look. One piece construction also allows for easier cleaning.
Two Piece Toilet
Composed of a separately constructed bowl and tank. Two piece toilets are the most common and typically least expensive
Wall Hung Toilet
Wall hung toilets provide a great minimalistic look. The tank is concealed behind the wall and the wall mounted bowl allows for easy cleaning underneath.
Kohler Intelligent Toilet
Kohler Intelligent Toilets are floor mounted models with the bowl and tank in one single unit. They typically feature additional features such as heated seats, internal cleansing and more
Bowl Height
Comfort (Chair) Height Toilet
Toilets with bowls that are between 17” & 19” above the floor, which is similar to a standard chair. This makes it more comfortable and accessible for users of all abilities. ADA requirements specify comfort height toilets.
Standard Height Toilet
Toilets with bowls that are less than 17” high above the floor. More common in older heights. May not be suitable for commercial applications as they do not meet ADA requirements.
Trap Design
Exposed Trapway Toilets
Traditional design with trapway visible from the side of the toilet.
Concealed Trapway Toilet
Smooth trapway surface that is easy to clean.
Skirted Trapway Toilet
Uniform and smooth toilet base from front to back. Easy to clean and offers a sleek look
Flushing Options
Single Flush
Consistent flush with every use. Can use 1.6, 1.28 or 1.0 gallons per flush depending on manufacturer specifications
Dual Flush
Offers two different flushing capacities. User decides between half or full flush
Touchless Flush
Battery operated flush initiated by waving hand over the tank. Limits spread of germs
Color
Kohler Toilets come in a wide variety of colors including white, black, biscuit, almond and more!
